There Isn’t Just One Way to Build an International Career
Conversations about working abroad often begin the same way.
Someone shares how they relocated, explains the steps they followed, and before long, that journey starts to feel like the only route available.
It’s understandable. We naturally learn from the experiences of people around us.
The reality, however, is that international careers rarely follow a single path.
In healthcare alone, one professional may relocate through an international recruitment agency, another through direct applications to employers, another through postgraduate study, while someone else follows a licensing or fellowship pathway. The destination may look similar, but the route taken
can be completely different.
This is why comparing your journey too closely with someone else’s can sometimes create unnecessary frustration. A pathway that worked well for one person may not align with your profession, your experience, your career goals, or even the country you hope to work in.
Understanding the different pathways doesn’t mean you need to pursue all of them. It simply means you can make decisions based on what is most appropriate for your own circumstances instead of assuming there is only one correct way to build an international career.
At Vidan Solutions, we believe that good decisions begin with good information. International recruitment is not a one-size-fits-all process, and understanding the different pathways helps professionals make choices that are informed, realistic, and aligned with their long-term goals.
Before today, did you think there was just one route to building an international career?
